Confined Space Safety Requirements.

Safety rules for confined space must be followed while working inside confined space because, confined isn’t designed for human occupancy, tanks, vessels, pit, drum, silos are some common confined space which are used to store chemical or to process chemical products, due to storage of chemical these places become contaminated and result in oxygen deficiency and due to this working in confined space is not safe.

Sill if there is need to work inside confined space we can work by fulfilling some confined space safety requirements.

Being a Safety officer you need to check following Confined space safety requirement before confined space entry.

Confined space safety requirements: -

1. Confined space entry work permit.

Work permit is a legal document no work should be carried out without valid work permit, in same way to enter in confined space confined space entry permit required.

NOTE: - By confined space entry permit workmen only can enter in confined space, to do any activity additional work permit required such as for welding hot work permit required.

2. Confined space training record or identification card of each workman.

All workmen entering in confined space must be trained, following safety points can be discussed in training.

Hazards from the material that was stored in confined space.

Hazards in surrounding of confined space.

3. Approved rescue plan.

Rescue plan must be prepared it will provide the detailed information of rescue, rescue team, rescue equipment & Safe escape route.

4. Approved ventilation plan.

To maintain good air quality inside confined space ventilation must be provided as per ventilation plan, by ventilation plan you can check how much quantity of air required for a specific confined space & how many ventilation or air mover required to fulfill the required quantity of air.

5. Presence of rescue team.

Rescue team must be present at work location every time during job inside confined space with their rescue equipment.
